We've been eating here for 15 years!! The BEST carnitas in town!! My kids have grown up on El Novillero's rice and beans!! Definitely a family favorite and great for work lunches!!

Our family's favorite restaurant of all restaurants, not just Mexican food!. We will pass up the best steak houses to eat here. We live up in Chico now and plan our trips south through Sacramento so that we will either have lunch or dinner on our way through. On our way back, we like to order some salsa and some extra meals "to go" so we can enjoy when we get home. Oh, if only they would open a restaurant up here!

Best Mexican food in the Sacramento area without a doubt. The chile verde is some of the best, sorry mom. We've been eating here since 1984. It can be rather busy sometimes, but definitely worth the wait!

My family has been going to El Novillero for years. The service is consistently excellent. They have people dedicated to filling up your water glass and refilling chips and salsa. They are fast and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and family oriented. I love this place. It will always be my favorite Mexican restaurant. You should try it!

We moved down the street in 1975 when we were newlyweds and remember when the restaurant looked like the above picture!! We loved it then...we would walk down and order take out. And we still love eating there, 33 years later !

I have been going to El Novillero for over 10 years now and it is simply the BEST mexican food I have ever had. All of our family birthday dinners are held here because we just can't get enough of it. Love Mike, he was always very nice to my grandmother when her and her friends came for lunch. Great food and great staff!

I've been going there for years even back when it was just a stand; a kiosk - those were the days - loved it then and love it now.
