It is constantly improving. It has the real stuff! It has fine settings for it. You can get on or in some of the displays. There are knowledgeable docents willing to share their knowledge.

My son is only 4 years old and he's already been to this museum dozens of times. He loves all the areas and wants to keep going back. As he grows, he learns more and more.

The California State Railroad Museum is the most beautiful and complete display of full size trains that I have seen in my travels as a train enthusiast. It is a Museum that Sacramento can be extremely proud of!

This is one of the best museums that the entire family can enjoy together. And as far as railroad museums go, this is one of the best I've seen. My son enjoys the interactive displays and loves playing with the Thomas train set upstairs with other young children. The displays are very informative and accessible to all.

I went down to Sac-town to visit with friends and out of all the things to do I wanted to see the railroad museum, it was both wonderfully interesting and eerie. We all loved it, and still talk about it every time we all get together.

I grew up in Sacramento and the railroad museum and its collection bring back many fond memories of bygone trains, people and the old Southern Pacific railyards next to the museum.

My kids have visited over and over and never quite get tired of it. They are huge train lovers and the chance to climb aboard real trains is a dream come true for them.

God bless the curator in charge of the massive Lionel toy train collection. He is bringing us baby boomers a lot of good stuff to enjoy from our childhood and inaccessible rare toy trains to view.
